Our newest innovation is to allow for fancy deckle edge cutting using a system called ‘CRUSH-CUTTING’. This is achieved similarly to using a score or creasing wheel against a hard surface on heavy board material and applying extra pressure to ‘crack’ the fibre without cutting it. The separation of the two parts of stock is similar to that of perforated stock thus without the problems of any waste or cut material creating a problem during final out-feed delivery in your press.

Fancy edge deckle cutting can be used for many applications to simply produce an amazing feature for invitation cards, presentations folders, menus and many other products which can be enhanced with a deckle or other unique edge trim.

These crush cutting wheels can be placed in perforating wheel holders of commonly used sheet fed offset printing presses which have the ability to perforate or score stock against a hard surface. In some cases these might use a stainless steel cylinder jacket.

Herben designs and manufactures a range of these ‘crush-cutting’ wheels for most presses or finishing machines. The most common size is 30mm outside diameter, 5mm wide. The Herben Deckle wheels are made of high grade hardened steel to match all other high quality Herben products.
